Great Waltham Cricket Club News story

Club update 24th April

24 Apr 2020

Good Afternoon Fellow Members

Firstly I hope you and your families are safe and healthy.

April is one of the favourite months of the year for all cricketers, players and supporters. Out on my morning run (ok trot), I can report the ground is looking in excellent condition and match ready for tomorrow’s game against Springfield. The forecast is dry, sunny and hot…win the toss and bat Sam.

Sadly, the only cricket these days is being played in everyone’s garden or watching re-runs of England winning the World Cup on Sky, much to disgust to our Overseas Kiwi.

As many of you have read today, the ECB have said no first class cricket will be played until 1st July. All Essex leagues take their stance from ECB guidelines, therefore it’s safe to assume that no Club cricket is likely to be played either.

I wanted to write to you on behalf of the Club Committee to let you know that we have not forgotten about our members. On the last communication I assured you that we are monitoring our financial position on a weekly basis to ensure we take appropriate action to maintain the existence of our Club, which you all have played an integral role in forming it’s success.

We are currently exploring a number of options for funding should we have an unprecedented season with little or no cricket. As Members, I want to assure you we are in a stable position.

Keep following us on instagam @gtwalthamcc on Twitter @gtwalthamcc and on Facebook Great Waltham Cricket Club.

Enjoy this glorious weather and stay safe.
