Great Waltham Cricket Club Under 15's v Maldon on Wed 15 Jul 2015 at 6pm
Great Waltham Cricket Club Won By 30 runs
Match report
Due to the wonders of modern technology and a little imagination this match report is able to be written despite the scribe not being at picturesque Great Waltham CC!
As with the previous game the Mighty Green Cap U15s batted first and with Dea’th (1) being run out early the Cathedral old boys of Gore and Carroll found themselves at the crease. This key innings swung the game and with Gore (27), Carroll (39), Chapman (18) and Barker (10) all making double figures a very competitive total of 134 for 7 was set.
Carroll and Chapman soon dislodged the bails of the Maldon opening pair and with the ‘Big Man’ taking a further two wickets the visitors found themselves 15 for 4. The main difference between last week and this, was athletic fielding and special mention should be given to Atkinson for a truly spectacular catch. In the latter stages of the innings Foster (30) and Patel (36) batted well but the visitors from the Crouch fell 30 runs short.
With this being the last scheduled game for the U15s the future looks bright. With only De’ath being a real under 15, all other players with be able to play next year. Some might say the futures orange or should I say green!
