In addition, Joe Reed played for SWF because they were short of players. Good sportsmanship Joe!
Tommy Clampett was chosen as captain for GW. GW won the toss and Tommy chose to bowl. Aaron opened the bowling against SWF. SWF’s first two batsmen played great shots but GW bowlers managed to contain them although no wickets were taken in the first few overs. However, in the fifth over Tommy took a great wicket, the first of today’s game. In the next over Alex took another lovely wicket. It was a wicket maiden. Again, these two batsmen played great shots but were still contained. The score was 203 for two. The ninth over saw more great bowling from Tommy. However, these two batsmen were not contained as well as previous batsmen. Aaron bowled his third over and took another wicket. Followed by Alex bowling his final over taking another brilliant wicket. After 16 overs SWF were 227 for four. The next few overs saw great backing up in the field with Matty taking the ball nicely in his wicket keeping gloves and Josh H stopping more runs. Good fielding in the last few overs kept runs conceded to a minimum. SWF final score was 232 meaning GW needed 233 runs to win. GW bowlers got four wickets in total with Alex taking two, Tommy taking one and Aaron taking one. GW bowlers only gave seven wides. Great bowling GW!
Josh D and Aaron were opening batsmen. The first over SWF bowled really well only giving away four runs hit by Josh D. What a brilliant shot! The next over saw Aaron hit a great six off the fifth ball, losing his wicket in the very next ball! Making the score 221 for one. Josh was great at running between the wickets and also in calling to run or not to run. Next two batsmen were Ryan and Bailey. Ryan hit a great shot through a gap scoring a four for GW. Bailey was great at defending yet he still scored runs. Great shots were played by both boys and they worked very well together. The boys scored 13 between them after four overs. Well Done boys! The third pair was Divij and Alex. Divij and Alex both scored boundaries in the next over and both kept their wickets scoring 19 runs between them. The fourth pair was Brad and Matty. The next over saw a great shot from Brad going for a four but saved at the very last minute by Joe. More great shots from Brad scoring more runs. Great defending by Matty, then a lovely shot went to the boundary giving Matty a four. Both boys kept their wickets and worked together when running between the wickets. Last batsmen were Tommy and Josh H. Another great shot from Tommy again saved at the last minute by Joe. Josh H hitting some more great shots. The last ball saw Tommy hit a lovely four. Tommy and Josh worked really well together and managed to score more runs. The end score was 271which meant GW won by 38 runs although SWF played very well and showed great sportsmanship. Joe played brilliantly for SWF, batting well and was great in the field stopping any balls that came near him. Well played to both teams, a great match!
