Match report The 2s also suffered defeat at home to Rankins by 2 wickets. Winning the toss, Clouty chose to bat on what looked like a good surface. The Rankins bowlers bowled tightly restricting our scoring opportunities up top meaning we were behind the rate we would have wanted. Harrison played another brilliant innings making a fifty and taking his average in the league to 197! His knock of 64 gave the middle order a chance to push us up to a defendable total. Some enterprising innings of 27 and 29 from G. Bloom and K. Webb pushed the total up to 168/6 from our 45 overs. It was going to be a tough ask to defend on a flat wicket but we were confident with our bowling roster.

Momentum was switching hands frequently through the first half of the Rankins innings. The opening stand of 41 and the 3rd wicket stand of 46 put Rankins in charge at 100-3. When Chappie managed to remove Warner for 24, Harrison Parr-Ozols took over taking two wickets and a run out in the space of 3 runs. The visitors went from 100-2 to 104-6 in the blink of an eye. We were back in front. Despite our best efforts, we couldn’t quite get the last few wickets as Potter and Dean put on 33 for the 9th wicket to grab the win. Despite the loss I think we learnt a lot with the bat and will be better in the coming weeks.
