Great Waltham Cricket Club Lost By 6 wickets.

Match report A heavily depleted 2nd XI, hit by a combination of last minute call ups and the late withdrawal of their injured Vice Captain, put in a spirited and battling display only to be overpowered by a hard-hitting innings from the H-a-B II Captain.

Havering-Atte-Bower were united in their praise for our young bowling quintet. 'If they're this good now, give them a couple of years and they'll be your 1st team' was one of many encouraging comments that provided plenty of comfort after a bruising (literally) fielding performance.

Positives? Tommy Clampett's stylish 60 at the top of the order backed up by Lewis Chapman (31) with a crunching cameo. Joe Reed, Jamie Carroll & Lewis (again) all bowled great spells against far more experienced opponents.

When Lewis took 2 wickets in 2 balls - the first to another cracking catch by Jamie Carroll in the deep - the game briefly swung in our direction and there was a real feeling of 'Just one more breakthrough' being the difference between victory and defeat.

Alas, it wasn't to be.
