Great Waltham Cricket Club 2nd XI v Roxwell Blues on Sat 19 Jul 2008 at 1.30 pm
Great Waltham Cricket Club Lost by 9 wickets
Match report
We lost the toss and we were put into bat on a good track we lost Buck early but both Phil and Trevor played some good aggressive shots and put on 124 for the next wicket before Trevor was out for an excellent 57 with some vintage shots from the veteran. Phil continued the momentum and was joined by another old boy in Neil Harman who never looked like he had been away with some fine strokes to all parts . The innings was going at good pace but hen lost both Phil and Neil quickly Phil departing for 81 andNeil for 35 after this we lost momentum slightly with Booker picking up 3 late wickets and finally ended on 247 for the loss of 8 wickets.
The reply got of to a positive stsrt from a Roxwell point of view and we were finding it hard to break the opening partnership we did manage to dislodge Smythe for 34 but this bought Stainer to the wicket and along with Bishop never looked in trouble and were building a match winning partnership with both players reaching there half centuries, this gave them the momentum and for the first time this season our heads were dropping and fielding was slack but fair play to Roxwell and both batsmen who knocked off the remainder of the runs with over 10 overs left Bishop ending unbeaten on 98 and Stainer 104.
