Great Waltham Cricket Club Under 13's v Little baddow u13 on Sun 21 Jun 2015 at 9:30
Great Waltham Cricket Club Won By 8 wickets
Match report
Great Waltham U13’s entertained Little Baddow on a Father’s Day Sunday that saw the sun shining. This was in contrast to both senior matches the previous day that were abandoned because of the rain.
The Mighty Green caps won the toss and invited Little Baddow to bat. Hussain started to find the boundary rope with a few 4s. The short pavilion side boundary needed accurate bowling or runs would come quickly. The John Lever look alike, Eaglesham was the first bowling change. With his sixth delivery of the over he bowled a beautiful in swinging ball that clipped the top of leg stump to see the end of Churchouse for 6.
Bowling up the hill saw a combination of Atkinson, Brown, Harper and Elles all keep Hussain at bay. Atkinson (17), Mooney (7) and Taylor (19) all partnered the opening batsman who found himself 44 not out at the close as Little Baddow made a very respectable total of 107 for 4.
With the Waltham WAM’s (Wives and Mothers) enjoying the weather and view of the church all was rosie. Cumpstey and Walton opened the batting and with 9 off the first over they seemed to be in a hurry! The previous Boycott like Cumpstey had turned into Chris Gayle and Walton was batting with his normal swagger. The first wicket fell at 29, Walton bowled for 9, enabling Elles to enter the stage. Cumpstey continued the fine batting and was retired at 25. Elles (21) was the second wicket to fall at 87 which then saw Eaglesham (19 not out) and Brown (10 not out) guide the Mighty Green caps home.
A second victory on the bounce. With a game against Galleywood U13’s this Wednesday, could it be three in a row? Come on you Green Caps!
