Hatfield Peverel v Great Waltham Cricket Club Under 15's on Sun 18 Jun 2017 at 9:30
Great Waltham Cricket Club Won by 67 runs
Match report
Having read Sam Harris’ match reports, which are a good read, mine need to be more analytical and longer. I will attempt the former but not the latter!
The U15s arrived at the now familiar surroundings of Hatfield Peverel CC. Winning the toss the Green Caps elected to bat and both openers Elles and Barker batted with great purpose. With the 50 partnership up in 9 overs, Barker was bowled for 23. This saw Richards arrive at the crease and not having played for a few years, the team weren’t too sure whether Viv or Wendy was going to turn up!
Elles continued to score freely and Richards started to find his touch with bat in hand. Elles was retired at 32 not out but there wasn’t any respite for the home attack as Brown arrived to made a quick 32 runs himself. Richards looked to be having fun as the U15s made 131 for 5 from their 20 overs.
The Hatfield Peverel batting line up didn’t seem keen to chase the runs and were happier to ‘bat out’ their overs. All Green Caps bowled with Tokley and Brown the pick of the bunch. With 64 runs on the board yet only 4 wicket lost this showed the home teams intention. A victory by 67 runs and onto the next game soon – at home versus Old Chelmsfordians next Wednesday. Hope to see you there readers. #thefuturesbrightthefuturesgreen.
