Match report On the Platinum Jubilee weekend Great Waltham 3rd XI travelled to Billericay to play St John's. The home side won the toss and decided to bat. Starting well, St John's were 89 without loss from 21 overs and certainly in the driving seat. Kumar (53) however was run out spectacularly by Elles and their momentum seemed to be lost.

With the father and son combination of N and J Robinson know in the bowling attack, runs were thwarted and J Robinson bowled a great spell - 8 overs for 22 runs. I Elles was now back from the pavilion end and took 3 important wickets. (8-0-34-3). Billericay St John's rallied however in the final 7 overs and Rodgers (71) and Ravi (34) carried their bats. 187 for 4 from 40 overs.

The youth and experience of the Great Waltham team needed to blend to taste victory. The opening pair of Harman and Hill started well - 39 without loss from 4 overs. Harman, around for a good time not a long time, made 23 as St John's found the breakthrough that was needed. S Termezi batted sensibly as Waltham kept up with the run rate. 73 for 1 from 12 overs.

I Elles (15) and H Termezi (16) added valuable run and with anchorman Hill still at the crease the game was very winnable for the visitors. 155 for 5 from 31 overs. Robinson Senior (24) and Hill (66) saw Great Waltham over the line with 3.5 overs to spare. 191 for 5 - the visitors won by 5 wickets. A great game played in a good competitive spirit. Well done all.
