Ilford Catholic CC- 3rd XI v Great Waltham Cricket Club 3rd XI on Sat 29 May 2021 at 1pm
Great Waltham Cricket Club Lost by 164 runs
Match report
After three weeks of poor weather and uncertainty it was great to get a game played with no fear of rain or wasted car journeys.
Ilford Catholics won the toss and decided to bat. A quick wicket in the first over saw Riches return to the clubhouse without troubling the score. The second wicket put on 82 runs with both Penkar (28) and Zaman (63) scoring freely. Josh De'ath came on to break the partnership bowling both batsman and at one point the home side were 126 for 6. Swan (30), Shah (20) and Kumar (22) however all scored sensibly and ICCC reached 209 for 8 from 40 overs. Pick of the Great Waltham bowlers was De'ath with 4 for 38 from 9 overs.
For Great Waltham to stand any chance of reaching the target of 200 plus, the top three needed to score most of the runs. De'ath, Fall and Whettel all played themselves in but failed to accelerate the scoring when needed. 17 without loss became 45 all out as the Ilford Catholics bowlers had a field day. Pick of the bowlers were Phogat 3 for 10 from 9 overs and Swain 4 for 8 from 2.4 overs. A home victory by 164 runs.
