St Johns (Billericay) CC- 2nd XI v Great Waltham Cricket Club 3rd XI on Sat 19 Jun 2021 at 1pm
Great Waltham Cricket Club Won by 9 wickets
Match report
A local game in Billericay saw St John’s and Great Waltham both look for a much-needed win. The visitors won a very important toss and had no hesitation in putting the home side into bat. A green, wet wicket with a very wet outfield that had just been cut, would make batting difficult.
Crisps and Macharaj (22) opened the batting for St John’s as Payne take a wicket from his very first ball. With Adlum (17) in earlier than expected they tried to build an innings - 29 for 1 from 12 overs. With Bell now in the attack he was starting to play havoc with his accurate medium pass. 50 for 1 from 20 overs became 58 for 8 from 27 overs. Bell – 8 overs, 4 maidens, 5 wickets for 10 runs. St John’s Billericay all out for 70 runs.
With a very strong battling line on display for Great Waltham, Headon (26) and Fall (20 no) scored freely. With only one wicket being lost Bubb took his first wicket in senior cricket. Dhanjil (18 no) hit the winning runs in the 20th over and the visitors won by 9 wickets.
