Match report After last week’s loss, new skipper Clouty was looking to bounce back with a win. They travelled to South Woodham & Burnham to play on what I’m told was a spicy track. Strangely, after winning the toss, SWF&B elected to bat. This decision surely looked like a strange one when they were 22-7! JT ripped through the top order getting five out of the top 6 batters in a spell of 9 overs 5 for 12. JT was well supported at the other end by Chappie who bowled with his typical control in a spell of 7 overs 1 for 12. The SWF&B number 4 tried his best to drag his team to some sort of total in a remarkable innings of 29 off 122 balls! He and skipper Stephenson tried to push the hosts up towards the hundred mark but after two final wickets from the pair of Harrison’s, SWF&B were bundled out for 99. Top scorer on the day was extras which can arguably be the only blot on the copy book of a great bowling performance.
A good option for low totals can be to try and attack and get it over and done with quickly. Tanner did that getting a quick fire 20 off 17 balls to deflate the hosts. Fresh off his hundred last week Harrison then serenely guided the side towards the low total. He ended up 33* off 35 balls to secure us the win. A couple of wickets fell around him but we ran out 5 wicket winners and are up and running for the 2024 season.
